MANAGERIAL/COACHING CAREER

Enters his 25th season in professional baseball and his fourth year as the Orioles hitting coach...Under Presley's tutelage in 2013, Chris Davis led the Major Leagues with 53 home runs and three Orioles won Silver Slugger Awards…Presley's 2012 Orioles hit a franchise record 127 home runs at home, tied the franchise record with seven homers in a game, tied for the second-most homers in a season in franchise history and hit the second-most home runs in the majors (214)…Prior to joining the Orioles, Presley served five seasons in the same role with the Florida Marlins…Under Presley, the Marlins set single-season club records in runs (790 in 2007), hits (1504 in 2007), doubles (340 in 2007), home runs (208 in 2008), RBI (749 in 2007), average (.268 in 2009), on-base percentage (.340 in 2009) and slugging percentage (.448 in 2007)…In his five seasons with the Fish, they ranked fourth in the National League in slugging percentage (.427) and home runs (902) and 5th in runs scored (3809)…Prior to joining the Marlins in 2006, Presley spent five years as a hitting instructor in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, with the last three seasons at the major league level…In 1999, the NL West Champion Diamondbacks boasted league highs with 908 runs scored and 865 RBI…In 1998, the Diamondbacks' inaugural season, Presley joined Buck Showalter's coaching staff as the Hitting Coach, a position he held through 2000…Spent one year as hitting coach with South Bend Silver Hawks (A) in 1997…Presley guided Lethbridge (R) to Pioneer League single-season records for home runs (88) and runs scored (637) as the hitting instructor in 1996..

PLAYING CAREER

Presley spent eight seasons in the majors with three different teams (Seattle 1984-89, Atlanta 1990, San Diego 1991)... In 959 major league games, Presley posted a .247 batting average with 875 hits, 135 home runs and 495 RBI...He was selected to the 1986 American League All-Star team but did not play in the game...Entered the all-star break with a .280 batting average, 18 home runs and 64 RBI for the Seattle Mariners...Posted three consecutive 20-homer campaigns, with 20 in 1985, 27 in 1986 and 24 in 1987...Presley made his major league debut in 1984, and collected his first hit with the Mariners off Bert Blyleven on June 24 at the Kingdome...He hit his first major league home run June 29, 1984 at Boston off Bob Ojeda...Was selected in the fourth-round of the 1979 draft by the Seattle Mariners.

Jim has a son, Joshua, and a daughter, Kendall, and resides in St. Andrews, Fla. …Holds a master's degree in educational leadership and a bachelor's degree in health, leisure and sports, both titles from the University of West Florida…Graduated from Escambia High School in Pensacola, Fla., in 1979…Led his team to the 1974 Dixie Youth World Series.
