NOTES

Enters his first year as the Orioles' Minor League Infield Instructor...Spent the past five seasons on the Texas Rangers' Major League coaching staff as first base coach (2013) and third base coach (2009- 12)...Oversaw the Rangers' infield defense...Served as Texas' Minor League field coordinator in 2008 after serving as Double-A Frisco's manager in 2007...Was the Minor League infield coordinator for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2006...Managed at every level of the Minors in a seven-year span with Detroit (1994-2000) with stops in the International League (Toledo), Southern League (Jacksonville), Florida State League (Lakeland) and New York-Penn League (Jamestown)...Managed in the 1998 Southern League All-Star Game...After beginning the 2000 season with Toledo, he resigned to become the head coach at his alma mater, the University of Memphis, where he went 104-116 over four seasons from 2001-04.

PLAYING CAREER

Played 10 seasons in the Major Leagues, including eight with the Dodgers (1983-89, 1992) and two with the Giants (1990-91)...Appeared in 873 Major League games and hit .242 with 19 homers and 143 RBI...Won a World Championship with the Dodgers in 1988 and appeared in the postseason in 1983 and 1985...Although he was never officially announced as a pinch-hitter, Anderson was in the on-deck circle before swapping places with Kirk Gibson, who went on to hit a dramatic 2-run homer off Dennis Eckersley in the bottom of the 9th to end Game 1 in the 1988 World Series...Was selected by the Dodgers in the first round (22nd overall) of the 1981 amateur draft out of the University of Memphis, where he is a member of their Baseball Hall of Fame after hitting .396 (147-371) with 22 home runs and 107 RBI in his career...Was named a first-team All-American in 1981...Graduated from Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, Florida.

PERSONAL

Dave and his wife, Janet, have twin daughters Georgia and Olivia (3/25/11), and Dave has two adult children, daughter Christa (1/3/84) and son Ryan (12/14/86).
