Saturday, May 12, 2012 - 1:00 p.m.

Outside on Federal Street, adjacent to PNC Park

Bicycling enthusiasts came out in full force for Pirates Charities for a 100-bike outdoor stationary cycling event on Federal Street to raise money to support Pirates Charities and the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh's "Building Bridges" program.

On Saturday, May 12, local instructors led this non-competitive cycle, lasting three hours, on Federal Street prior to the Pittsburgh Pirates 7:05 p.m. game vs. the Houston Astros. This event took place under perfect weather conditions and was a big success in its inaugural year.

Cyclists could elect to "buy" a bike for the entire three-hour event, or rent a bike by the hour. Fan could register as an individual, or reserve bikes for a group of friends! Each spin bike raised a minimum of $50 per hour. Participants could seek sponsors to raise additional funds for Pirates Charities and the YMCA.

All participants received a complimentary game ticket for that night's Pirates game vs. the Astros, and a commemorative towel. Plus, each hour, participants present during that hour had the chance to win prizes including Pirates memorabilia, 3-month and 6-month memberships to Oxford Athletic Club for a family of four, BodyMedia FIT CORE Armbands and more!
