Throughout the 2012 season, Missy Martin, wife of Phillies Manager Charlie Manuel, and several of the Phillies Wives spent time at Covenant House Pennsylvania redecorating several rooms including the babies and girls lounge recreational rooms.
"What we will be creating and offering to the youth of Covenant House Crisis Center complements one of their driving principles - sanctuary," said Missy.
Residents go to Covenant House from a world of chaos and trauma.
"Our design goal is to create an atmosphere of tranquility that is organized and inspirational. The spaces will be livable and likable with elements that have quality, durability, and functionality. Not to mention plenty of eye appeal!"
Missy and the wives group plan to reveal the newly designed spaces in Spring 2013.
The Phillies Wives held a Mystery Ball Sale in late September, 2012, raising nearly $11,000 which was donated to both The People's Emergency Center and Mothers United Through Tragedy.
The Phillies Wives and staff presented nearly 50 brand new backpacks filled with school supplies and other necessities to homeless children and teens currently residing at Gloria's Place, the facility for the People's Emergency Center. All items were donated by Phillies Wives, players and members of the front office staff.

2012 marked the 28th anniversary of the Phillies partnership with the ALS Association and the 23rd year of the Phillies Phestival to help in the fight against ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. The event featured Phillies players and coaches greeting both patients and fans in autograph and photo booths as well as live and silent auctions. The Phillies Wives have continue to play a significant role in the event by helping prepare grab bags, greeting patients and volunteering their time on the day of the event. Since 1984, more than $12 million has been raised for the Philadelphia Chapter of the ALS Association.
On June 23, 2012 the Phillies Wives group hosted their annual "Save a Pet at the Park" event which featured cat and dog adoptions, a silent auction, raffles and a mystery ball sale. In recent years approximately $200,000 has been raised for the SPCA including $16,500 in 2012 alone.
With help from the Wives the SPCA heightens awareness in the community not only about animal cruelty but also the vital need for animal adoptions from local shelters.
