Anderson to represent Orioles at Draft
By Brittany Ghiroli / MLB.com
The Orioles will pick fourth overall and Commissioner Bud Selig will announce all the first-round picks, with club reps sitting at the Draft table and phoning in each official selection. Baltimore does not have a sandwich pick, and its second-round pick will be 65th overall. The O's are also slotted in for the 99th pick [third round] and 132 [fourth round], with all 30 clubs continuing in that order until the Draft concludes.
The First-Year Player Draft takes place this year from June 4-6, beginning with the first round and Comp Round A on Monday, June 4, at 7 p.m. ET. The first night of the event will be broadcast live on MLB Network and streamed live on MLB.com. Rounds 2-40 will also be streamed live on MLB.com on June 5-6.
The 48-year-old Anderson was a three-time All-Star who spent 14 of 15 seasons playing for the Orioles. He had worked in an informal capacity for the organization the past two years before executive vice president of baseball operations Dan Duquette named him a special assistant this winter. Anderson, who has worked extensively with outfielder Nolan Reimold and pitcher Brian Matusz, oversees the Orioles' fitness and conditioning programs.
