Reimold homers behind solid Matusz vs. Phils
By Todd Zolecki / MLB.com
Halladay allowed seven hits, two runs, two walks and struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings Sunday in a 3-3, 10-inning tie with the Orioles in a Grapefruit League game at Bright House Field. He allowed a solo home run to Nolan Reimold, while Wilson Betemit scored on a single from Ronny Paulino in the second to give the Orioles a 2-0 lead. But Halladay stifled Baltimore the rest of the day.
The Phillies scored three runs against Orioles left-hander Brian Matusz in the third to make it 3-2. Freddy Galvis and Jimmy Rollins singled to put runners on first and third with one out. Placido Polanco, who played for the first time since March 17, singled to score Galvis, and Jim Thome doubled to score Rollins and Polanco.
Thome was playing first base for the first time in a big league game since 2007 with the White Sox.
Phillies closer Jonathan Papelbon allowed a hit, but maintained the tie with a scoreless ninth inning.
Up next: Tommy Hunter will make his second spring start against former Oriole Erik Bedard on Monday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Reliever Jim Johnson is also scheduled to make his fifth appearance in the 7:05 p.m. ET contest.
