The Orioles have a lease with Fort Lauderdale Stadium that runs out after the 2009 season, but they also have option years for '10 and '11. Baltimore has pursued an extensive renovation of its existing facility, which doesn't have enough room for its Minor League operations, and has also discussed a potential move to Vero Beach or Sarasota.
The Dodgers and the Reds, respectively, have left Vero Beach and Sarasota for new facilities in Arizona. The Red Sox, meanwhile, are leaving City of Palms Park for a new stadium in Lee County at some point in the next few seasons.
Ray Judah, the county commissioner for Lee County, told the News-Press that things may move quickly for his county and the Orioles.
"It looks like we'll be able to resolve all outstanding issues within 90 days," Judah said.
