Orioles not shutting down Guthrie
Staff ace scheduled to throw from 150 feet, then side session

Prior to Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, Trembley indicated that Guthrie, who has not pitched since Aug. 29 due to a sore right shoulder, was scheduled to throw from 150 feet. It is a step in the right direction for the hurler. However, before returning to the rotation, Guthrie would likely have to throw in a side session -- something he's been unable to do lately.
Even though there are only 12 games remaining for the Orioles this year, there is just enough time left for Guthrie to return, mainly because he was placed on the DL retroactive to Sept. 6. Guthrie is eligible to return to action during Baltimore's Sept. 22-24 home series against the Rays and Trembley said the team hopes to have the right-hander by then.
"That's what we're shooting for," Trembley said. "If he's ready to do it then, fine. But we'll have to see where he's at."
Guthrie is 10-11 with a 3.57 ERA over his 29 starts this year.
