Orioles' promotion entices Sunday wins
Fans will receive a free ticket to future game if club wins Sunday

If the club snaps out of its Sunday funk this Sunday against the Rangers (1:35 p.m. ET), fans with a paid ticket to the game will receive a free ticket to any future non-prime Orioles game.
Should the Orioles come out victorious over the Rangers, fans will be able to select a ticket for a comparable seat to any of the club's 33 remaining non-prime games. After Sunday, the remaining non-prime games include series against the Tigers, Blue Jays, Angels, Rangers and White Sox.
"The club is extending this extremely unique offer to those fans attending Sunday's game," Orioles director of communications Greg Bader said. "The circumstances surrounding the team's Sunday struggles are highly unusual and inexplicable. We believe the situation calls for added assistance from our loyal fans to help the team deliver another Sunday victory. And if the Birds win on Sunday, anyone who does help us break this hex will be rewarded with a complimentary ticket to a future game of his or her choice."
The Orioles have not been able to walk away winners on a Sunday since the first weekend of the season, when they defeated Seattle, 3-2, as part of a four-game sweep of the Mariners.
After dropping their latest Sunday game by way of a 12th inning walk-off by the Nationals' Ronnie Belliard, starter Jeremy Guthrie said the Sunday trend is not really something the team thinks about.
"The players don't even think of it," Guthrie said. "I don't think we knew anything of it, some don't even know now, but we approach the game the same as any other day. It's just a coincidence. By no means does anyone come in any different on a Sunday then they do on a Saturday or a Thursday."
Coincidence or not, the Orioles were 41-39 this season entering play Monday, but featured a 40-27 record on every other day of the week -- a trend they hope the extra fan support will help reverse. Tickets are still available for Sunday's game and, in the event of a win this weekend, the Camden Yards box office will remain open after the game to allow fans to collect their free tickets. Tickets will be redeemable through Aug. 31.
