The Orioles will pay tribute to the 1932 Baltimore Black Sox Negro League team tonight, September 6. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the '32 Black Sox, who were in first place in the East West League with a 20-9 record when the league was disbanded in June. The Sox were credited with a championship but never received the proper recognition for their accomplishments.

Orioles players and coaches will wear 1932 Baltimore Black Sox replica uniforms for the game, and the team, which included standout players Laymon Yokely and Crush Holloway, will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. Relatives of Black Sox player HERBERT "RAP" DIXON will be presented with a throwback jersey from COREY PATTERSON as part of the pre-game activities.

The game-worn, autographed and authenticated jerseys and pants will be auctioned online at www.orioles.com beginning today at 3:00 p.m. Auctions will end during the evening of September 12, with proceeds to benefit the Baltimore Orioles Charitable Foundation.

ROBERTO CLEMENTE AWARD

The Orioles have selected pitcher JAMIE WALKER as their 2007 recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award. The Award is given each year to a player on each team who shows outstanding dedication to giving back to his community. Walker will be recognized for his commitment to helping members of the military in a pre-game ceremony tonight, September 6. A donation of $7,500 will be made in Walker's name to his favorite charity, the U.S. Army Emergency Relief Fund. Walker also donates $200 per appearance to the Relief Fund and regularly hosts injured servicemen and women at Orioles' games. An overall MLB winner will be announced at the World Series next month, chosen in part based on fan voting. Fans can vote for Walker at www.orioles.com.

RALPH SALVON/RICHIE BANCELLS AWARD

The Orioles will present Bowie Baysox Athletic Trainer JOE BENGE with the Ralph Salvon/Richie Bancells Award for Excellence in the Field of Emergency Medical Service in a pre-game ceremony today, September 6. The award was created in 2005 to be given to local area medical professionals who demonstrate excellence in the field of emergency medicine and the ability to think quickly and act quickly in emergency situations. Benge will be honored for his role in providing critical medical attention to Baysox catcher ELI WHITESIDE after a collision with a runner at home plate earlier this year.

2007 JOHNS HOPKINS MEN'S LACROSSE

The Orioles will recognize members of the 2007 NCAA Champion Johns Hopkins University men's lacrosse team in a pre-game ceremony on Friday, September 7.
