1B Kevin Millar and RHP LaTroy Hawkins yesterday joined IF Chris Gomez, RHP Russ Ortiz and CA Chris Widger in electing to become free agents under Major League Baseball rules. The five players can negotiate with all 30 major league teams, including the Orioles, for a new contract.

The Orioles also announced that they have activated LHP Kurt Birkins, LHP John Parrish and RHP Aaron Rakers from the 60-day disabled list and added them to the 40-man roster.

The moves leave the Orioles with 36 players on their 40-man roster.
