Orioles outright five players
tickets for any Major League Baseball game

The Orioles today announced that 2B Bernie Castro, 1B Alejandro Freire, OF Ramon Nivar, OF Keith Reed and SS Eddie Rogers have cleared waivers and have been sent outright to AAA Ottawa.

Rogers has elected to become a free agent, and the other four players will become minor league free agents on October 15.

Castro made his major league debut with the Orioles in 2005. He batted .288 with 7 RBI in 24 games after his contract was purchased from Ottawa on September 1.

Freire also made his major league debut this season, batting .246 with a HR and 4 RBI in 25 games in two stints with the Orioles. He batted .299 with 19 homers and 69 RBI at Ottawa.

Nivar, acquired from Texas in March, was with the Orioles for 11 days in June and appeared in 7 games, going 4-for-13 with an RBI. He batted .198 in 33 games at Ottawa and .247 in 41 games at AA Bowie.

Reed was with the Orioles for 10 days in May, making his big league debut, and went 1-for-5 with an RBI in 6 games. He hit .292 with 8 homers and 37 RBI in 80 games at Ottawa.

Rogers, whose contract was purchased from Ottawa on September 6, homered in his only at bat for the Orioles on September 26 vs. New York. He also pinch-ran in 7 games, his first major league appearances since 2002. In 125 games at Ottawa, Rogers batted .262 with 7 home runs and 48 RBI.
