SEATTLE -- Second baseman Brian Roberts was held out of the starting lineup on Monday with a sore groin, something he initially felt during Sunday's game, Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.
"We want to try to manage that and make sure it's not something more than it is," Showalter said.
Meanwhile, outfielder Nick Markakis (wrist) took about 20-25 swings at 70 percent in batting practice with Class A Aberdeen. The plan is to replicate the workload tomorrow with a potential increase in intensity and then send him to Double-A Bowie on Wednesday. If all goes well, Markakis could play Thursday or Friday in Bowie.
"I think tomorrow and Wednesday will be to see if he's ready to take that step of playing," Showalter said. "I'm just hoping at this point we're able to see him after the All-Star break."
Showalter also said he hopes catcher Taylor Teagarden will be able to join the club sometime after the All-Star break. Teagarden started a rehab assignment in the Gulf Coast League on Monday.
