Orioles at the plate: First baseman Luke Scott, who is hitting .500 this spring, drove in two of Baltimore's three first-inning runs with a two-out single. Scott reached base in two of his three plate appearances. Ty Wigginton went 1-for-2 with an RBI single. Outfielder Adam Jones connected for his second extra-base hit of the spring with a first-inning triple.
Pirates at the plate: Third baseman Pedro Alvarez went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a run scored. Ramon Vazquez singled in each of his two at-bats and drove in his first run of the spring. Garrett Jones' first-inning double was the Pirates' only other extra-base hit of the night. Orioles on the mound: Brad Bergesen allowed two earned runs on three hits and a walk in 1 1/3 innings. Jason Berken tossed two scoreless innings and allowed just one baserunner. Luis Lebron and Mark Hendrickson each made scoreless relief appearances as well. Pirates on the mound: After getting two quick strikeouts to start the night, Zach Duke got knocked around a bit in the first. The lefty gave up four hits and walked two with two outs in the first, which gave the Orioles an early three-run lead. Duke did settle down, though, allowing just one baserunner in the rest of his 2 2/3-inning outing. Daniel McCutchen made a strong case for the fifth rotation spot with two perfect innings. He struck out two.

Spring Training Info
Right-hander Kevin Millwood will start the game for the Orioles and will be looking to bounce back from a rough Grapefruit League debut. Millwood recorded just two outs while allowing six runs on seven hits and a walk against Detroit on Saturday.
The competition for the fifth spot in the Pirates' rotation continues on Thursday as Kevin Hart takes the mound for a 1:05 p.m. ET game against the Rays. Hart, who is battling McCutchen for that final spot in the rotation, dealt with some control issues his last time out.
Jeff Karstens and Jack Taschner -- both of whom are fighting for a spot in the bullpen -- are also expected to take the mound for Pittsburgh.
