A young man pled guilty in a Baltimore court Wednesday to stealing a Cal Ripken Jr. monument from Oriole Park at Camden Yards.Jason Stonebruner, a 19-year-old from Essex, Md., was one of four men accused of tearing a 3 1/2-foot aluminum No. 8 off of its base outside the ballpark and taking off with it in a pickup truck. Police arrested the group a couple hours later with the monument. The other three await jury trials, scheduled to start Friday.
Stonebruner received a two-year suspended jail sentence and was ordered to pay restitution to the Orioles. The conviction could be reduced to probation and all but wiped off his record if he completes the terms of his punishment.
