Orioles on the mound: Right-handed starter Adam Eaton pitched four innings, allowing two runs -- only one earned -- on three hits and a walk. He struck out two and settled down after a shaky first inning, retiring the final eight batters he faced. Chris Ray pitched one inning of relief and struck out two.
Cardinals on the mound: Right-hander Chris Carpenter had another impressive outing, pitching six scoreless innings and allowing three hits. He struck out two and walked one and 38 of his 64 pitches were strikes. Third baseman Joe Mather made an outstanding defensive play on a hard grounder off the bat of Huff in the top of the fourth to keep a run from scoring and Carpenter's scoreless innings streak intact. Carpenter has pitched 14 scoreless innings and became the first Cards pitcher to go six innings this spring.
Grapefruit League records: Orioles 9-10; Cardinals 12-6-1.
Up next: The Orioles travel to Viera, Fla., to face the Washington Nationals at 1:05 p.m. ET. Right-hander Danys Baez is the scheduled starter for Baltimore.
