Twins at the plate: Denard Span and Alexi Casilla both singled in the first inning and came around to score. Michael Cuddyer had two doubles and a single, including a run-scoring shot in the first inning. Jason Kubel singled three times, and infielder Matt Macri drilled a two-run double in the seventh to put the Twins ahead.

Orioles at the plate: Matt Wieters singled in his first at-bat and scored on a one-out single by Gregg Zaun. Jolbert Cabrera drove home Baltimore's second run with a sacrifice fly to medium center field. Adam Jones reached base and stole third in the third inning, and he also doubled and scored on a single in the fifth. Ty Wigginton had three singles in three at-bats.
Twins on the mound: Southpaw Glen Perkins worked three innings and worked out of a bases loaded jam in the third. Nick Blackburn pitched a scoreless inning and got a key double play in the fourth. Minnesota closer Joe Nathan allowed two hits and one earned run. Orioles on the mound: David Pauley got banged around for eight hits in the first two innings but managed to limit the damage. Pauley got a double play to escape a bases-loaded jam, and stranded a runner at third in the second. Relievers George Sherrill, Jamie Walker and Jim Johnson all pitched scoreless innings.
