Baltimore watched a close game evaporate into a rout on Saturday, and with it went the team's four-game winning streak. The Orioles can leave Boston on a positive note, though, if they can wrangle a win in the final game of the series. To do that, though, they'll have to beat the hottest pitcher in the Major Leagues.

The Orioles will hand the ball to Jeremy Guthrie in the series finale, and they'll have to hope he can work deep into the game. Several of Baltimore's main relievers got a needed rest Saturday, but a heavy day would introduce the same problem all over again. Boston will counter with Josh Beckett on Sunday, and Beckett will shoot for his eighth win.

Baltimore has lost this series in four of the last five seasons and owns a 37-60 record against Boston since the dawn of the 2002 season. Last year was especially tough, as the Red Sox beat the Orioles 15 times in 18 games. The O's are 22-26 against Boston at Fenway Park since the beginning of the '02 campaign.

Pitching matchup
BAL: RHP Jeremy Guthrie (2-1, 4.64 ERA)
Guthrie has worked at least five innings and allowed one earned run in both of his starts.

BOS: RHP Josh Beckett (7-0, 2.51 ERA)
Beckett has won all seven of his starts and had five or more strikeouts in six of them.

Player to watch
Jay Gibbons had three hits Saturday to snap a 1-for-8 skid from his previous three games.
