Cabrera mows down Nationals in tie
Orioles right-hander fans seven over four shutout frames
ORIOLES 3, NATIONALS 3 in 10 innings
at Columbus, Ohio
Thursday, March 29
Nationals at the plate: Washington erased Baltimore's shutout bid, tying the game with three runs in the bottom of the eighth. The first two runs were unearned, coming on a wild pitch and a two-base error. Washington scored its third run the old-fashioned way on a hit by Kory Casto.
Orioles on the mound: In his final exhibition start, starter Daniel Cabrera struck out seven in just four innings while limiting the Nationals to three hits. All three of Washington's runs in the seventh came against right-handed reliever Danys Baez.
Nationals on the mound: Starter Shawn Hill pitched seven solid innings, scattering eight hits and a total of three runs (two earned). Four relievers shut out the Orioles the rest of the way until the game was called after the 10th inning.
Up next: Washington and Baltimore meet again on Friday at 2:05 p.m. ET at Harbor Park in Norfolk, Va., the new Triple-A home of the Orioles. Left-hander Matt Chico gets the call for Washington, while right-hander Jaret Wright takes the mound for Baltimore.
