JUPITER, Fla. -- Abraham Nunez's RBI triple in the bottom of the ninth salvaged a 5-5 tie in 10 innings for the Cardinals against the Orioles in the Grapefruit League finale for both teams on Wednesday afternoon.
Baltimore scratched out a two-run eighth against Ray King, who hadn't permitted a score in his previous five appearances. Geronimo Gil's single scored Chris Gomez to break a tie and give the Orioles a 5-4 lead.
Steve Reed pitched a scoreless, hitless seventh for the O's. The two clubs play each other in Oklahoma City on Thursday and Friday.
Reggie Sanders' two-run homer keyed a four-run St. Louis second as the Cards took an early lead, but the Orioles closed the gap on David Newhan's sac fly in the fifth and tied it up when Jay Gibbons singled home Bernie Castro in the eighth.
Orioles third baseman Melvin Mora left the game after being hit on the right wrist with a pitch. X-rays on Mora were negative, but he will return to Baltimore for further examination rather than joining the team in Oklahoma.
