Navigators - Promotions Team Member

Navigators

The Position:
The Navigators are a co-ed promotions team who serve as energetic, outgoing ambassadors of the Seattle Mariners, working to promote and represent the team's brand in a positive and professional manner. The team can be found at all home games at Safeco Field as well as around the community working to improve the fans' overall experience and relationship with the ballclub. The Navigators report to the Mariners Marketing Department.

Wages:
$11.00/hr.

Job Duties:

  • Assist in execution of on-field and in-park contests. Includes enthusiastically participating in some elements of contests (i.e. congratulating winning contestants, delivering prizes, etc), explaining simple procedures of contests to participants and assisting in set-up and tear down.
  • Act as host to various guests of the Seattle Mariners during their visit to Safeco Field. Includes greeting guests, escorting guests to and from the field during pre-game, clearly articulating expectations while on the field and generally making sure guests have a safe and fun experience.
  • Work to promote upcoming games and events both at Safeco Field and in the community.
  • Assist the Mariner Moose with game day mascot responsibilities including fan interaction, game entertainment, etc. Also assist in occasional appearances in the community with the Mariner Moose.
  • Opportunities to host a live pregame feature highlighting Safeco Field.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a customer-driven environment.
  • Prior public speaking, broadcast, performance or entertainment experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates must be available to work 20 hours a week during home games (April through September), including evenings, weekends and holidays, plus occasional community appearances.

Production Intern

Job Title: Production Intern

The Position:
The Seattle Mariners Baseball Club is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to assist the Mariners Production Department in a variety of areas relating to video and motion graphic production. This individual will be a part of professional production environment and receive hands on experience. This job would require a minimum commitment of 10 hours a week at rate of $11 an hour.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with production of video and motion graphics for MarinersVision and social media platforms
  • Help shoot, edit and create graphics for video features
  • Assist in graphic production for headshots, promo screens and scoreboard messages
  • Work control room positions on gamedays as needed (Camera, Clips, Replay, etc.)
  • Help load/ manage video and graphic content
  • Assist in logging and archiving of video content
  • Coordinate dubs and footage requests

The Position:
The Seattle Mariners are currently recruiting to fill the position of Seasonal Digital Media Coordinator reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager. This is a part-time, seasonal position. The ideal candidate is creative, energetic, and passionate about baseball as well as the digital space, with an emphasis on social media.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Content planning and creation across social media platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Vine, Tumblr, Google+ and the team's WordPress blog

Ball Girl

The Position:
The Seattle Mariners Baseball Club is seeking several qualified individuals with softball and/or athletic backgrounds for the position of Ball Girl for the 2015 season. Ball Girls operate within our Fielder Team as part of our Day of Game Staff and are expected to work within the Fielder Team in addition to Ball Girl shifts.

Seasonal Baseball Information Assistant

Job Title: Seasonal Baseball Information Assistant

Time Period: Late March through the 2015 baseball season

The Position:
The Seattle Mariners Baseball Information department is seeking a seasonal assistant for the entire 2015 season (tentatively late March through the end of the 2015 baseball season). Applicants must have excellent writing skills, preferably with a background in writing or journalism. The ideal candidate is a college graduate or a local college student able to work flexible hours, which regularly includes nights and weekends. Previous experience in sports information department is a plus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities for the Baseball Information Assistant will include preparation and dissemination of pre-game information including rosters, lineups, game notes and releases as well as research projects throughout the season including archiving. The Assistant will: assist with press box game management; participate in writing and production of publications, organizing photographs, work with media staff in notifying media members of breaking news and handling daily media written correspondence and fan/media phone inquiries; handle extensive statistical research projects for media and staff.

  • Prepare statistical packets for media
  • Update statistics for Pregame Notes
  • Copy and distribute pregame notes, lineups, press clips, statistical reports and press releases
  • Assisting in all aspects of press box operations including press box setup, assisting with Media Will Call.
  • Assist with Baseball Information social media which includes twitter and blog.

Building Electrician

Job Title: Building Electrician
Department: Engineering & Maintenance

The Position:
The Seattle Mariners Baseball Club is currently recruiting to fill the position of Building Electrician reporting to the Director of Engineering & Maintenance and working under the general supervision of a Lead Electrician.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

1) Perform journey-level work in the design, installation, modification, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems at Safeco Field and associated Parking Garage.

2) Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical distribution systems to include:

  • Service equipment
  • Load centers
  • Transformers
  • Motors
  • Control systems.

3) Operate and maintain all lighting control systems including computer controlled, remotely operated circuit breakers and latching relays.

4) Maintain appropriate service and repair records within a work order database.

5) Research, purchase and inventory equipment parts, materials and supplies.

6) Respond to routine and emergency calls for repair and service throughout the facility.

7) Understand and analyze drawings in order to identify the location of new and existing electrical systems.

8) Attend meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

9) Coordinate with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders.

10) Estimate materials and/or equipment needed to complete work projects.

11) Prepare documentation for the purpose of providing reports and/or conveying information efficiently and effectively.

12) Provide event power (temporary power) in support of events of varying scale.

13) Install new equipment and circuits, as necessary, integrating into existing building infrastructure.

14) Ability to work well independently, as well as within groups, to accomplish goals and projects.

15) Ability to use problem solving to identify issues and create solutions based on known and unknown criteria.

16) Ability to meet deadlines, complete scheduled work, set priorities and follow up when complete.

17) Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel in addition to work order database programs.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

1) General journeyman electrician (EL01) with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the trade. Equivalent military experience with ability to file for, and obtain, Washington State EL01 certification will be accepted.

2) Knowledge and experience in thermography and infrared scanning of the following:

  • Electrical panels
  • Motor Systems
  • Switchgear equipment

3) Knowledge and experience with the following:

  • Lighting (CFL, LED, MH, Neon, incandescent, etc.) both low voltage and high voltage
  • Relays, contactors and solenoids
  • Test equipment (volt/amp meter, ohm meter, megger, circuit tracing)
  • Troubleshooting feeders and branch circuits
  • Setting temporary power using cam lock connections, generators and transformers
  • Most recent NEC edition and all state and local regulations and codes
  • Ohm's Law and its application in designing and troubleshooting electrical systems
  • PLCs, motors, limit switches, proximity switches and motor control functions

4) Service electrician experience, commercial construction or maintenance electrician experience a must.

Additional requirements of the job are as follows:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs required

The Position:
The Seattle Mariners are currently recruiting to fill the position of Director, Safety & Security reporting to the Vice President of Ballpark Operations.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction in all areas of safety, security, loss control, security best practices
  • Responsible for strategic planning in regards to safety and security objectives of the Club
  • Responsible for physical security of Safeco Field, 24 hours a day / 7 days a week
  • Responsible for player and employee safety and security at all times
  • Collaborate with both internal and external groups to effectively resolve all security related issues and implement mitigation and recovery plans and programs to address security related incidents
  • Establishes and implements short and long range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies standards and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement that will ensure the highest level of security for Mariners staff and assets and the lowest risk of loss and liability to the organization
  • Implement security plans and programs to comply with Major League Baseball's (MLB) Best Stadium Operating Practices and to meet all security requirements for MLB games
  • Collaborate with MLB Resident Security Agent (RSA) and MLB Office of Facilities & Security
  • Design, establish and maintain department structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization's goals and objectives; employ, train, supervise and evaluate staff
  • Develop, manage and monitor annual security department operating budget
  • Assist in the development of long term plan for capital investment in physical security measures, programs, software and technology in support of organizations objectives
  • Manage all security projects within the organization and provide leadership during this process
  • Monitor security conditions and conducts ongoing analysis of data received from both external and internal sources - advises organization on appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Develops and implements a security training strategy for all Mariner employees and ensures appropriate steps are taken to ensure security compliance. Provides frequent communication to the organization concerning security issues
  • Oversees and provides direction for major security related projects and physical security technologies including but not limited to; various card key access systems, alarm systems, video surveillance systems, security services and various other related systems
  • Oversees security incident response planning and investigation of breaches; assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches
  • Interprets laws, regulations, and contract requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other issuers of security requirements
  • Recruit, employ, schedule and manage local Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) support for all baseball games and other non-baseball events
  • Recruit, employ, schedule and manage city and county off-duty police officers for baseball games and other non-baseball events
  • Suppress public disturbances occurring on the premises and where necessary, request assistance from city and county police if/when required
  • Provide for the safe conveyance of monies from various areas to designated safes or other locations within the facility
  • Collaborate with executives to formulate policies, determine need for programs and coordinate programs affecting baseball games and event operations
  • Maintain safety and security training files for all employees in accordance with Human Relations (HR) policies and procedures
  • Update and manage Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
  • Support Vice President of Ballpark Operations in developing and maintaining business continuity and response plan
  • Manage compliance program of all industrial safety measures for organization to include Washington State labor & Industries, OSHA, and all city and state regulations
  • Administer Club's Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
  • Oversee and responsible for the enforcement of Club's Safety Manual and leading quarterly safety meetings
  • Responsible Safety Data Sheets (SDS) program for the Club to include oversight, administration and management
  • Administer Club's first aid program in accordance with our Accident Prevention Plan (APP) as well as administering Blood Borne Pathogen (BBP) policy, training and management
  • Administer and manage Club's Hazcom Plan in accordance with Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
  • Administer and manage Club's Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) program in accordance with the Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
  • Collaborate with Director, Engineering & Maintenance on managing FM Global Hot Work Permit Program as well as FM Global Red Tag program in regards to fire suppression system impairments

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5 years of operational security experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, in stressful situations
  • Knowledge, experience and academic exposure in the areas of public and industrial safety
  • Ability to maintain good judgment, common sense and composure while performing numerous simultaneous tasks in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, team-oriented environment and develop solid, cooperative working relationships with people at all levels of the organization
  • Available to work nights, weekends and holidays on a consistent basis
  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field of study
